Standing in Solidarity: Three Years On, Support for Ukraine Must Continue

3 Year Anniversary of Russia's Full-scale Invasion of Ukraine

Marking Three Years Since Russia’s Full-Scale Invasion of Ukraine

February 24, 2025, marks three years since russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a devastating escalation of a war that began in 2014 with the illegal annexation of Crimea and aggression in the Donbas. Over this time, Ukraine has demonstrated remarkable resilience, courage, and determination in defending its sovereignty, democracy, and future.

While Ukraine continues to stand strong, global support remains critical. This war is not just about Ukraine—it is about defending the principles of international law, human rights, and global security. The atrocities committed—war crimes, mass deportations, and the abduction of Ukrainian children—must not be ignored. Justice and accountability must remain at the forefront of international efforts.

To mark this solemn anniversary, NZUBA board members stood alongside the Ukrainian community at rallies in both Auckland and Wellington. These gatherings served as a reminder that New Zealand stands with Ukraine and that continued international support is essential.

As we move forward, we urge the New Zealand government, businesses, and the wider community to maintain and strengthen their support. Ongoing assistance—whether economic, diplomatic, or humanitarian—will be crucial in helping Ukraine rebuild and secure lasting peace.

NZUBA remains committed to fostering meaningful partnerships between New Zealand and Ukraine, ensuring that support goes beyond symbolic gestures and translates into real action.

Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with Ukraine. Your support makes a difference. Let us remain steadfast in our commitment to Ukraine’s future.

💙💛
